Countryside

Welcome to the Countryside of Pays de Lafrançaise

Where preserved nature, authentic flavors, and absolute tranquility invite you on a timeless getaway. Between orchards, farms, and wooded trails, discover a destination where each season offers its treasures and simple pleasures.

A Feast for the Eyes

Its woods, orchards, lakes, and trails are best explored on foot. Along the shores of Lac de Lafrançaise, between plains and hillsides, in the heart of a preserved natural setting, breathe in the fresh country air. You’ll discover, in peace, many magnificent sites marked by stunning viewpoints and panoramas of exceptional beauty. Here, small heritage gems are always ready to surprise you around every corner: a dovecote, a bridge, a mill, a church, or a castle!

Hiking Trails

A Treasure on Your Plate

Everywhere, the abundant richness of orchards shapes the landscape. Plums, cherries, apricots, peaches, apples, pears, and grapes—especially the famous Chasselas de Moissac—delight our senses at markets, restaurants, and directly from producers. Enjoy a wide variety of seasonal vegetables: cabbage, leeks, and potatoes in winter; asparagus, peas, and radishes in spring; zucchini, lettuce, green beans, and tomatoes in summer; and pumpkins and squash in autumn—plus so much more!

Local gastronomy also offers delicious farmhouse cheeses: cow, goat, or sheep—something for every taste. Pair them with a good local wine. Smooth, velvety reds are perfect with charcuterie, while lively, fruity rosés are a delight at aperitif time. The IGP Lavilledieu is a true gem.

Here, you can savor the excellent produce from small local farms: meats, charcuterie, poultry, and, of course, the famous foie gras of the Southwest!

Dining locations

Let’s Stroll Through the Woods

Breathe in the unique scent of oak forests, the kingdom of squirrels, hares, roe deer, and mushroom foragers. Along the trails, in the grass, marvel at wild orchids. If you’re lucky, you might spot a magnificent European bee-eater, or enjoy the company of finches, swallows, tits, and robins during your walk.

Fascinating Farms

At a market or during a farm visit, small producers will share their love for the land. They work with an open and respectful mindset to offer us excellent local products. Calm, nature, and freedom: on the farm, you’ll discover a haven of peace. Feeding the animals is a highlight. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and eager to return!

A Mild Climate!

Here, in the heart of the Southwest, sun and warmth are guaranteed all summer long. Spring and autumn are very pleasant, often bathed in beautiful light. Even winter is mild, with the sun quickly dispersing the morning mist. If rain makes an appearance, it’s brief—just enough to let nature thrive while you enjoy a moment of relaxation or a visit indoors.

A Privileged Destination

Surrounded by Toulouse, Cahors, and Agen (just 1 hour away), and Montauban, Moissac, and Castelsarrasin (only 15 minutes away), our countryside is peaceful and easily accessible. On-site, life thrives in small shops, restaurants, and markets. Whether for a short stay or year-round living, you’ll naturally adopt a relaxed lifestyle where you take the time to appreciate life’s little joys: a chocolatine (pain au chocolat), an aperitif in the sun, or a game of pétanque!
